Tahun ini mereka memberi penghargaan khusus kepada Oprah Winfrey.  

Golden Globe Awards tahun ini diwarnai protes para aktor aktris Hollywood akan maraknya pelecehan seksual. Mereka beramai-ramai mengenakan busana hitam di atas red carpet.
